India’s SEBI expands forensic auditor panel with 18 new companies

Stocks & Finance

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the country's market regulator, has expanded its panel of forensic auditors by adding 18 more companies.

The list now includes Ernst & Young, KPMG Assurance and Consulting Services, Zx Grant Thornton Bharat and Nangia & Co, among others, the Business Standard reported, citing the PTI.

According to the report, the companies will conduct forensic audits of the financial statements of listed companies.

The expansion follows a selection exercise launched through a public procurement notice issued by SEBI in November 2025.

The new practices have been added to the existing roster of forensic auditors, which was first released in April 2025.

The empanelment of these companies will be valid for three years from the date of publication of the updated list.

Nangia & Co Forensic Advisory senior partner Srinivasa Rao explained that the selection reflects the company's expertise in forensic investigations and its commitment to supporting transparency in India's capital markets.

Rao said: "We are immensely proud to be empanelled by SEBI, a testament to our team's deep expertise and unwavering dedication to forensic excellence.

"This empanelment reinforces our position as a trusted partner in safeguarding investor interests and promoting transparency within the financial ecosystem."

The other newly empanelled entities are J C Kabra & Associates, J Mandal & Co, J Singh & Associates and Jain Jagawat Kamdar and Company.

The list also includes ASA & Associates; CLA Indus Value Consulting; Pipara & Co; Ravi Rajan and Co; R Kabra & Co; R S Patel and Co; Sarath and Associates; SKVM and Company; S S Periwal and Co; and V Singhi & Associates.

SEBI's forensic audit panel comprises practices authorised by the regulator to undertake forensic audits of listed companies where there are concerns about possible financial irregularities.

These exercises are intended to support market integrity, enhance corporate transparency and protect the interests of investors.

In March this year, SEBI expanded the range of professionals eligible to conduct annual audits of research analysts and investment advisers.
